Founded in 2001, Casemate is a major specialist publisher and book distributor in the North American market.

Casemate has grown to become the leading publisher in the fields of military history, defense studies, and military science in the USA. Casemate has a burgeoning publishing list covering subjects as diverse as Roman History and today's current conflicts.

At the same time, many publishers from the USA, UK, continental Europe and beyond, have come to trust Casemate as a valued distribution partner in reaching and maximizing sales from the vibrant US market. Building on the success of its US operation, Casemate opened for business in the United Kingdom in 2007 as a consequence can now provide distribution services worldwide. Many of our distribution client publishers have chosen to use both our UK and US distribution operations.

Beginning with our subject specialty of military history, Casemate's distribution operation now offers books in many disciplines and subject areas, from history to genealogy, from fine art to travel and much more. Non-history related distribution client books are showcased on our casemateathena.com website (see link to the left).

In late 2011 Casemate aquired the prestigious British archaeology publisher and distributor, Oxbow Books, together with Oxbow's US business, The David Brown Book Company. With this acquisition, we are now able to offer worldwide distribution services to the academic publishing community.
