Overview-
CEAM is for the Air Force what Research and Development is to a large corporation. This department leads all the experiments at a rate of 350 per year for all types of aircraft equipment: aircraft, weapons, software, ergonomic equipment, etc...
Established in 1933 in Reims, then transferred to Orleans due to German threat, the organization located to Mont-de-Marsan in 1945, where it is still based to this day. Integrated within air base 118, it employs nearly 1,000 people from front-line units and from a variety of backgrounds and specialties.
The author, himself a former test pilot, tells us the history of this organization in detail, with many supporting photographs, seventy years of experimentation, and the creation of the center that we see today.
