- Lockheed U-2
Overview-
One of two Lockheed reconnaissance “black” jets that emerged during the 1950s and 1960s, and flown by the CIA for almost 2 decades, the U-2 is arguably the world’s most famous spy aircraft. Although scheduled for retirement from 2015, that plan has been put on hold indefinitely, and the U-2 continues to grace our skies almost 70 years after its first flight. Produced in tremendous secrecy, and initially flown from areas away from public gaze, the U-2 is renowned for its cutting-edge design and operational flexibility. Fully illustrated with over 160 photographs, this book details the history and operations of the U-2.
